Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 – Pictures revealed. SCOOP

Rumours have been floating on the internet that Maruti Suzuki has been secretly testing a new 800cc engine as a replacement for their bread-and-butter car— the Alto. We at CarDekho share one of the biggest scoop with everyone, as we have caught this new Alto 800 in our camera lens. Yes, the model is called the Alto 800, the rear badge on the car also confirms it.

The new Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 gets a new front end with a small front grille and pulled back headlamps. The lower grille is hexagonal in shape and the entire fascia somewhat reminds us of the Ford Figo. This is likely to be Maruti Suzuki’s new design philosophy. The refreshing styling on the Alto 800 is definitely a welcome.

The silhouette of this car does resemble its sibling the A-Star as it gets the similar rising beltline with a somewhat-alike greenhouse area design.

The rear also seems to be derived from the A-star, with the old-school style boot-lid. On the inside, the interiors have been completely revamped. Head rests now come integrated into the front seats— atleast in the base model which we have caught has them integrated.

The dashboard design also has been changed. As the new Alto 800 is taller, there is more headroom when compared to that of the outgoing version. We believe, Maruti Suzuki might even tweak the 800cc engine not just for better fuel efficiency but also for better performance.

The Alto has been the bread-and-butter car of Maruti Suzuki for many years and last year itself, the company sold more than 3 lakh units. Recently, Hyundai had introduced a new game changer, the Eon which is performing decently at the moment with an average sales figure of 8,000 a month – much less than the current Alto’s number.

But, it seems Maruti Suzuki doesn’t want any competition to survive, and it is all-set to launch a new game changing, Alto 800.
