Mahindra XUV500's new Price-cut and top-end Variant in Pipeline

The rumour about a new price-cut version of Mahindra XUV500 is there in the market for over an year now, and now a company's top official has confirmed that there will be a cheaper version of the XUV500. It was also confirmed that there will be a more expensive variant of the XUV500 in India. Speaking to media Mr. Pawan Goenka, President of Farm Equipment and automotive sectors- Mahindra also said that there will also be a more expensive version of the XUV500.

The company has plans to replace some of its ageing models as well, however that must happen in next4-5 years, before that there will be some facelifts to keep doing well. The company will also focus on launching new variant of its existing line-up, confirms Goenka.

Mahindra & Mahindra already has a big line-up in the utility vehicle segment starting from Bolero, which is company's cheapest vehicle, while XUV500 is the most expensive one. So speaking on launching new products, he said, “There is no scope for one more product. If we launch a new product, we will be replacing an existing one, otherwise we are crowding it too much,” he said.

He further added, “Now that the pipeline is full, we are getting into the product lifecycle (the life term of any product).” Explaining the company's strategy for next 4-5 years, he said that most of the Mahindra's vehicles are expected to follow a pattern which includes a minor refresh in two years, a major one in four years and an overall change in eight years till date.

Mr. Goneka hasn't however specified the changes, the said cheaper and more expensive version of the company's flagship product XUV500, we are expecting the price-cut version to have lesser features while the more expensive to have some more including an automatic transmission gearbox.
