    Mahindra reports a 29 % sales jump in Aug 2010

    India's largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra reported a sales increase of 28.96 per cent in its total sales in the month of August 2010. The company sold a total of 28,903 units during this month as compared to the 22,413 units sold in the same month last year. In its domestic market,the company registered a sales growth of 27.39 per cent during this month as compared to the 21,410 units sold in the same period last year.

    India's largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra reported a sales increase of 28.96 per cent in its total sales in the month of August 2010. The company sold a total of 28,903 units during this month as compared to the 22,413 units sold in the same month last year. In its domestic market, the company registered a sales growth of 27.39 per cent during this month as compared to the 21,410 units sold in the same period last year.

    The total sales of company's utility vehicles that comprise of Mahindra Scorpio, Mahindra Xylo, Mahindra Bolero and its pick-up trucks grew by 13.55 percent at 12,994 units as compared to the 11,443 units sold in the same period last year. On the other hand, the sales of the company's only sedan model, Mahindra Logan increased by 70.79 per cent to 801 units during this month. The company had sold mere 469 units of this car in August 2010. The company had recently launched a new marketing campaign with a punchline - 'Logan Loves India' - to boost the sales of this model in the country.

    The exports of the company jumped by whooping 88.06 percent during the month. The company exported a total of 1,228 units during this month as against 653 units in the same period last year.

    Meanwhile, the company is all set to bring the global portfolio vehicles of South Korean Ssangyong Motors in its domestic market following the completion of the ongoing acquisition process, by this year end. The company is also planning to increase the production of its most popular SUV, Mahindra Bolero in the Indian market, in a bid to meet the ongoing high demand for this vehicle in the rural market of the country.
