    Mahindra BE 6

Most performance tests are about speed, 0–100 km/h times and top speed runs. But a 0–200–0 km/h run is different. It is not only about acceleration. Yes, getting to 200 km/h quickly matters. But what matters more is what happens after that. Aerodynamics, stability at high speed, and most importantly braking performance. Every part of the car has to work together.

Reaching 200 km/h shows how capable the car is. Braking back to zero shows how well it is engineered.

    Not Your Usual Record Attempt

If you search for this kind of test online, you will mostly see supercars. This is where things get interesting.

With the Mahindra BE 6, we decided to attempt this record in what is essentially a family SUV. That alone makes this effort special. The fact that the BE6 could attempt this run, and do multiple runs, shows how capable and stable it is.

And when everything was done, the result was simple.  The BE6 set the Fastest 0–200–0 km/h acceleration and braking run by an Electric Vehicle, a feat certified by the India Book or records. Permanently etching its name into the history books

But getting there was not easy.

A Special Record Needs the Right Place

Our usual tests are quite simple. We use a closed road, install our timing equipment, and run tests like 0–100 km/h or braking tests one at a time. This run was very different. Getting to 200 km/h needs space. A lot of it. Public roads are not an option. So we needed a proper test facility.

That is where Mahindra’s SUV Proving Track came in. It has long straights and a high speed track with parabolic banking. This setup allows cars to reach high speeds safely and in a controlled environment.

Another advantage was having Mahindra’s own engineers and technicians on site. They made sure the BE 6 was in perfect condition for the run.

And yes, this was a standard production car. No special tuning. No changes. Just a stock BE 6.

    A Family SUV?

Let’s talk about the car itself. The BE 6 stands out immediately. The design is bold and sharp. It looks like something you would expect from a concept car or even a supercar.

But it is not one. It is an electric SUV that is meant to be accessible to everyone. Under the design is a completely new electric platform from Mahindra. It brings new technology and a fresh approach to performance.

Building something like this takes confidence. And also the courage to back it up and this record shows that the BE 6 is not just about looks or claims. It can deliver real performance.

    Preparation Was Simple, But Important

You would expect a record attempt like this to need a lot of changes to the car. That was not the case.

Since this was a production BE6, preparation was simple.  Check the tyre pressures.

Make sure the battery is fully charged and that was pretty much all we did.

Of course, there were other things to take care of. We installed timing equipment and GPS data logging tools to record the run. Cameras were placed inside and outside the car.

We also got valuable inputs from Mahindra’s engineering team. They knew the track very well and guided us on how to use the banking and where to push the car.

Planning the run was important. We had to decide where to start. We had to make sure the car reaches 200 km/h on a straight section so that braking can be done safely. After several practice runs, we found the right spot.

The plan was simple. Accelerate hard on the straight. Enter the banking at around 150 km/h. Continue accelerating through it. Hit 200 km/h on the next straight. Then brake as hard as possible. Once everything was ready, it was time.

    The Record Run

The BE6 lined up at the start line. Everything that needed to be checked had been checked. The track was clear. The timing equipment was ready.

    Three. Two. One. Go.

The BE6 accelerated quickly.  Soon we were passed 100kmph accelerating down the back straight. Next came the banking.

Entering it at 150 km/h is fast in any car. But here we had to keep accelerating. The banking is designed to be stable at that speed. But as speed increases, you need to make steering corrections to stay on line. It takes focus.

Once out of the banking, the car was lined up straight. The speed kept rising 195… 198…200 km/h.

The timing equipment confirmed the true GPS speed with a loud beep and it was time to

And then it was time to brake.

    The Braking Test

Braking from 200 km/h is serious. The driver hit the brakes hard. The BE6 stayed stable. The braking was strong but controlled. The ABS and stability systems worked smoothly in the background.

    Mahindra Mission Scream Electric

There was no drama. No loss of control. Just a clean stop.

From 200 km/h to zero, the car stopped in 6.31 seconds. This kind of full braking from such speeds is rare. Most cars never experience this in real life. Even on race tracks, cars usually slow down to cornering speed and keep moving.

Here, the car came to a complete stop.

    The Final Numbers

After the run, we checked the data. Here is what we got:

    • 0–100 km/h: 7.24 seconds

    • 0–200 km/h: 34.06 seconds

    • 200–0 km/h: 6.31 seconds

Total time for the full run: 41.67 seconds  Total distance covered: 1,573.75 metres

These numbers confirm it. The Mahindra BE 6 now holds the record for the Fastest 0–200–0 km/h acceleration and braking run by an Electric Vehicle, certified by the India Book of Records.

    What This Means

This record is not just about speed. It shows what a modern electric SUV can do when pushed hard. It shows that acceleration, stability and braking can all work together.

    Mahindra Mission Scream Electric

The BE6 proves that electric vehicles are not just about efficiency. They can be fast. They can be stable. And they can stop with confidence.

Because real performance is not only about going fast.  It is about being in control at every moment. And this run proves exactly that.
