Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition: Bits Inspired By Formula E
Mahindra’s Formula E race tech steps off the track and into a road-ready EV. Sounds cool?
Mahindra has brought design elements and technology from its worldwide Formula E programme into the BE 6 Formula E Edition. This has enabled Mahindra to create its own electric SUV that not only takes a sports badge from a motorsport but also brings that sport's design and personality into every area of this electric SUV.
A Formula E Visual Identity on the Outside
The BE 6 FE Edition gets a rather motorsports-inspired design, which differentiates it from the normal BE 6. Mahindra has redesigned the front bumper and also incorporated a set of round projector headlights with glossy black surrounds, reminiscent of their Formula E race cars. This FIA-born design DNA has also been reinforced with Firestorm Orange accents around the grilles, bumpers, and brake callipers, which take direct inspiration from Mahindra’s Formula E racing team.
The SUV proudly displays FIA decals with a racing design on the bonnet as well as the roof, and a “Mahindra Formula E” logo on the windshield, as a bit of a giveaway. Even the redeveloped rear spoiler and skid plates are a part of this lineup, as this design brings a sporty look to this SUV.
Interior Touches That Bring the Racing Theme Inside
The Formula E series influence trickles into the interior, with Mahindra using a black and orange theme, as seen in the racing team’s colours. There are Firestorm Orange accents used in stitching, dashboard trim, seat belts, and door straps, accompanied by prominent Formula E badges on the seats and dashboard. The start-stop switch rests below a racecar-inspired cover, injecting a bit of motorsports flair in mundane driving.
The wireless charging pad, as well as speaker grilles, incorporate a geometric aerodynamic design that takes inspiration from airflow studies in Formula E, and the interior lights up with a Formula E start-up animation that has been designed exclusively for this series.

To make it even more closely related to motorsports, a distinctive sound has been incorporated in Mahindra’s BE 6 FE Edition, which represents the upcoming sound of Formula E cars. This, along with the use of translucent door panels and sports lighting design, adds to a sporty, motorsport-inspired interior, which, despite being in an EV, appears to be far from a normal EV interior.
Track-Derived Performance Calibration
Although it sports hardware similar to that of a normal BE 6, Mahindra states that their race experience in Formula E has allowed it to optimise their 79 kWh battery management and 282 PS motor. The accelerating capabilities of 6.7 seconds for 0-100 kmph, a top speed of 202 kmph, and sporty throttle input of the FE Edition are directed towards providing a better racing experience for a driver.
While exterior and interior enhancements are bound to catch attention, Mahindra also wants to highlight that its knowledge acquisition in electric motorsport has also impacted this SUV.
