#LookBack2014: Performance Cars Launched in 2014

Though Indian auto sector is more or less about the low budget fuel efficient cars, but this year manufacturers have presented to their customers some of the meanest and fastest performance vehicles. The year started with Audi RS7 launch and Bollywood actor Salman Khan to be its first customer. Other notable performance cars launched in 2014 were Lamborghini Huracan, BMW M3, M4, M5 and Mercedes Benz CLA45 AMG. Here is the synopsis of each.

Audi RS7

Launched at an ex-showroom price of 1.29 Crore, Audi RS7 is company’s most powerful car in the country. Powered by 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 powertrain, the car produces an output of 560 bhp at 6700rpm and a peak torque of around 700Nm at 1750rpm. It crosses the 100kmph barrier from standstill in a mere 3.9 seconds reaching the top speed of 250kmph.

Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4

Lamborghini launched the Gallardo replacement Huracan LP 610-4 at a pricey tag of Rs 3.43 Crore. The car draws power of 610bhp with 560Nm of peak torque from the mid-placed 5.2-litre V10 engine. The Huracan is capable of getting to 100kmph from standstill in just 3.2 seconds and can further reach the 200kmph mark in just 9.9 seconds with a top speed of 325kmph. 

Mercedes Benz GLA and CLA 45 AMG

The three pointed star manufacturer introduced its two new performance cars- GLA 45 AMG and CLA 45 AMG. Based on the Mercedes Benz’s Modular Front Architecture (MFA) platform, the GLA 45 AMG was launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 69.60 Lac while the CLA 45 AMG is priced at Rs 68.50 Lac. In 2014, the German luxury carmaker also launched the GL63 AMG and ML63 AMG, all through CBU (Complete Built Unit).

BMW M Series (M6 Gran Coupe, M3, M4 and M5)

In a move to update its powerful M Segment, the Bavarian manufacturer launched the updated M6 Gran Coupe, followed by the launch of M5, M3 and M4. The most expensive in the segment M6 Gran Coupe was launched at a price tag of Rs 1.75 Crore, updated M5 got an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.35 Crore while the M3 & M4 were launched at a price tag of Rs 1.19 Crore & Rs 1.21 Crore respectively.
