Japanese automaker Isuzu is quite popular in the International market for its reliable vehicles. However, until last year, Isuzu only offered few commercial vehicles in India. Its only SUV on offer, the MU 7, was discontinued due to its outdated styling and poor sales, and last year Isuzu introduced the lifestyle pickup, D-Max V-Cross, which has turned out to be quite a popular choice in its segment. And now, Isuzu is all set to launch a new 7-seater SUV, the MU-X, tomorrow which is based on the D-Max V-Cross.

Even though the official launch is scheduled for tomorrow, all the details of the upcoming MU-X have already been leaked. It will be powered by a 3.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine which produces 177PS of power and 380Nm of torque. The 3.0-litre engine is coupled to a 5-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift and brake shift technology to send power to all four wheels. Moreover, to increase its off-roading capabilities, the MU-X will come with a ‘shift-on-fly’ transfer box with 4x4 Low and 4x4 High drive modes. It has a claimed fuel efficiency of 13.8kmpl.

The MU-X will also offer all the latest safety, comfort and convenience features. It will have dual airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) along with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), emergency brake assist (EBA), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control system (TCS) and hill-start assist (HSA).

When it comes to comfort, the SUV has features like electrically adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, cooling vents for all three rows, a roof-mounted 10-inch DVD monitor, cruise control and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 8-speakers.

The Isuzu does miss out on some features when compared to its primary rivals, the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. However, Isuzu plans to overcome this with a tempting price tag. It is expected to be priced around Rs 25 lakh, making it a value-for-money offering. Let's wait until tomorrow to find out if this turns out to be true.
