Hyundai launches Eon Magna+ with 1 litre Kappa engine

Hyundai Motor India limited has launched its hatch Eon with 1.0 litre Kappa engine at Rs 3.83 lakh (Ex-showroom,New Delhi). The new 1.0-litre engine will be available only in Magna+ model, however, the automaker will continue selling Eon with 0.8-litre engines.

The Euro 5 ready, 998cc Kappa petrol engine is equipped with latest Dual VTVT technology and is designed to deliver high engine performance, with enhanced fuel efficiency and low emissions. The advanced 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine churns out a maximum power output of 68bhp and peak torque of 94Nm at 3500 rpm. The engine is coupled to the five-speed manual transmission which provides smooth gear shifts. The car delivers an impressive fuel economy of 20.3 Kmpl (ARAI Certified).

Inside the cabin, the hatch features best in segment safety and driver aid functionalities. The two tone interior design in beige and brown color is a treat to one's eyes. The 2 Din Radio + MP3 audio system comes with USB and AUX connectivity. The Magna + is made strong with more focus on designing a reinforced body structure. The hatch also features child safety rear door lock, central locking and engine immobilizer. However, unlike in Sportz variant, the Magna+ lacks keyless entry and dual airbag for its driver and first row passenger.

The all-aluminium 1.0-litre Kappa engine uses weight reduction technique as its head and block are made from the light aluminium metal. Moreover, with the use of light metal, the noise vibration & harshness levels (NVH) are also subsequently lowered. The low friction timing chain has been adopted while the piston cooling jets ensure optimum piston temperature for efficient engine working for higher fuel economy & enhanced engine performance.

Moreover, the company is doing pretty good in terms of monthly sales. The Korean manufacturer retailed a total of 35,248 units in India and has exported 14,974 units bringing the cumulative sales to 50,222 units for the month of April 2014.
