The official pre-launch bookings for the Hyundai Venue were opened on 2 May 2019 and the South Korean carmaker has now reported that it has received 2,000 bookings for its first-ever sub-4 metre SUV in just 24 hours! Set to be launched on 21 May 2019, Hyundai has set the booking amount for the Venue at Rs 21,000.

Hyundai Venue Official Bookings Open Ahead Of May 21 Launch

The Venue will be available with a choice of four powertrain options, seven monotone colours and three dual-tone colour options as well. While the variant-wise feature list is not yet known, the Venue will be equipped with segment-first connected-car features. Some of the other notable features include an electric sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and up to six airbags.

One of the key competitors of the Venue, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, dominates the segment in terms of sales and had claimed 2,600 bookings in 24 hours back in 2016. Hyundai is expected to launch the Venue with a starting price of around Rs 7.2 lakh. At that price, the entry-level Venue petrol will undercut the Brezza diesel that has a current starting price of Rs 7.68 lakh. However, the Brezza petrol will be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo and it is expected to be more affordable than the Venue once that happens.

The Venue’s powertrain options include a new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine which will be offered with a choice of a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. There will also be a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.4-litre diesel engine, both sourced from the Elite i20.

For now, the Brezza is only available with a 1.3-litre diesel engine with both manual and AMT options. At the top-end, we expect the Venue to be priced as a more premium offering with a price tag that could stretch upto Rs 12 lakh for the top-spec variant. In comparison, the Brezza tops out at Rs 10.43 lakh. The Hyundai Venue will also compete with the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300 at the premium end of the segment. The Ford’s top variant costs Rs 11.99 lakh while the Mahindra is priced at Rs 11.90 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
