Honda Compact SUV and New Jazz Launch in 2014, New City later: Official
In an exclusive interview with TOI, president and CEO of Honda Car India, Hirnori Kanayama talked about the company's upcoming cars in India along with the Amaze, which is all set to launch on April 11. He said that the company has plans to launch five big vehicles within next three years, including next-generation Jazz and an all-new utility vehicle (Compact SUV, we guess) next year. While the next-generation City will come after the new Jazz.
When asked about the company's roadmap of the new launches, Kanayama replied, "Within the next three years, we will come with five big launches. The next-generation Jazz and an all-new utility vehicle will debut next year." He further added that "First the new Jazz will be introduced globally. The City, which is a sister model of Jazz, will come after that."
The compact UV segment which is looking quite promising in India and is growing very fast, Honda too has its plans of launching a Jazz-based compact SUV. The company had previewed a Jazz-based SUV concept recently, which he think could be one of the options to be brought to India.
When the journalist asked him about the pricing strategy of Honda for its upcoming models so to take on rivals like Maruti Suzuki India, he replied that "We should not betray customer expectations... the past is past, all I can do is to change the future."
So, we can expect the future Honda vehicles to be priced quite competitive, and for that the company is trying to bring down the influence of exchange rate fluctuations by increasing the local content in its cars.
