Ford Freestyle Variants Explained

Ford Freestyle Ambiente Variant - Exceptional value for those on a tight budget

Ford Freestyle

Ford has managed to nail the entry-level pricing of the Freestyle. The aggressive price tag for the base variant even undercuts the Figo on which it is based. On top of it, there are more features on offer and a better petrol engine as well.

While the entry-level price is attractive, we expect carmakers to offer a music system with USB/Aux-in input, all four power windows and electrically-adjustable ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors) apart from safety features such as ABS as standard on all hatchbacks priced over the Rs 5 lakh mark. Although the Ambiente variant of Freestyle gets ABS with EBD and dual front airbags as standard, it does miss out on an audio system. Thankfully, it gets reverse parking sensors, so that’s one less add-on you’d need to worry about.

Ford Freestyle Trend Variant - Overpriced

Ford Freestyle

The Trend variant of the Freestyle gets all the important features that we expect from a sub-Rs 10 lakh hatchback. However, the additional goodies on offer do not justify the premium of Rs 90,000 over the base variant, especially when you consider that you can get most of these add-ons retrofitted at a much lower cost.

Ford Freestyle Titanium Variant - The value-for-money variant

Ford Freestyle For an additional amount of Rs 40,000 over the Trend variant, the Freestyle Titanium offers a whole bunch of extra features. In fact, even if you consider the total add-ons you get over the base Ambiente variant for a sum of around Rs 1.3 lakh, the Titanium variant comes across as a great deal. The Freestyle is the only car under Rs 10 lakh to offer Anti-Rollover Prevention system with HLA (Hill Launch Assist), ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and TCS (Traction Control System)

Ford Freestyle Titanium+ Variant - A sensible splurge!

Ford Freestyle

The top variants of a lot of mass-market cars are generally all about flash. But that’s not the case with the Ford Freestyle. The top Titanium+ variant of this car gets side and curtain airbags, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, auto dimming IRVM and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. And while these are features that you can live without, having them will make your driving experience a lot more pleasant. Lest we forget, there’s a total of six airbags for added protection as well. Hence, the additional Rs 55,000 you’d have to shell out to upgrade from the Titanium variant won’t feel like a pinch either. A sensible splurge, then, right?
