Chevrolet Spark Diesel to be launched soon

Recently we heard that the Indian auto major is working hard to regain its numero uno position back in the Indian auto market, but what we have here is something that will bring the company a more tough way to reach this goal. Chevrolet has recently revealed that the all exclusive car model under the company’s stable, Chevrolet Spark will now get a 1 Liter CRDI Diesel engine.

The news was announced by the General Motors India’s Vice President P. Balendran. The new engine, 1 Liter CRDI Diesel, is believed to offer a displacement of 936cc that is because the engine bears its origin from the three cylinder version of the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet diesel engine. This new engine is built to offer a maximum power of 56 Bhp and a beating torque of 140-150 Nm.

The engine will first be employed in the Chevrolet Beat Diesel with a total weight of 960 kilograms. Looking at the figures, this upcoming 936cc diesel engine will be of less power for a model like Chevrolet Beat Diesel. But while coming to the other stand out model from the company, Chevrolet Spark, which weighs 840 kilograms, the engine will be apt to power this car model; and make it more frugal.

The major reason behind this concept is the higher weight of Chevrolet Beat. What all we can expect from the company is that they might not come with a little alteration to reduce the engine capacity for the sake of discriminating the two models engine.The company for now has not disclosed the official launch date, but the stunning Chevrolet Spark diesel is expected to make an official entry by end of this year. The launch is also expected to accompany the 800cc Chevrolet Spark petrol variant with lesser price which will gun the mighty Maruti Alto.
