After a lot of rumours and leaked images confirming an ‘M’ badged 7-Series model, BMW has finally released the M760Li xDrive. Apart from the usual flagship luxuries, this Bimmer holds a 12-cylinder petrol engine with M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology under its bonnet. The car comes as a delight for the performance obsessed car enthusiasts which usually enjoy the rear seat champaign but seldom embrace the Hamilton within them. The focus of this car is to blend the premiumness of the 7-Series heritage with the sheer performance of the M Division.

As the M760Li is a “slightly” performance oriented vehicle, let's have a look at some of the numbers first. The car is powered by an all new M Performance TwinPower Turbo V12 petrol engine. This is a 6.6-litre V12 unit which develops 590bhp of power at 5,500rpm along with 800Nm of torque at 1,500rpm! Mind you, these figures are better than the BMW M6 Gran Coupé, which produces 550bhp and 680Nm of torque. The power transfer is via a standard eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. BMW M760Li xDrive accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 3.9 seconds and propels the car up to an electronically limited speed of 250kmph. If you want to go even faster, you can opt for the optional M Driver’s Package, which lets you take the car to 305kmph.

The car has several add-on features to better the ride like active roll stabilisation, 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, active safety, active steering system and 19-inch M Sport brakes with blue metallic brake callipers. Inside, for the driver, the car has all the driving aids which are present in the all new 7-Series. This includes the new generation of the Surround View system, which includes a 3D and panorama view option in the control display. And to make sure you never forget that you are indeed in an M Performance machine, the car has exclusive M leather steering wheel with the M logo, door sill plates with an illuminated V12 logo, the optional Touch Command Panel in the rear compartment’s centre armrest having a V12 identifier and an instrument cluster consisting of an exclusive speedometer with model designation and a 330kmph dial and iDrive Controller.

If you still need to feel a bit extra ‘special’, BMW, on no additional cost, will give you the optional BMW M760Li xDrive V12 Excellence package. This adds 20-€inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels in Waspoke 646 design high-gloss polished with mixed-size tyres (front: 245/40 R20, rear: 275/35 R20). There is also a high-gloss Black finish for the brake callipers. Customers choosing the V12 Excellence model can expect their BMW M760Li xDrive to feature a chrome bar extending across the full width of the car in the upper section of the air intake grille. In addition, the kidney grille bars are in Silver with chrome fronts and surrounds likewise in bright chrome.

All the other trim elements on the body also come in bright chrome. In place of a model designation, the BMW M760Li xDrive V12 Excellence has a “V12” badge on the boot lid. The exhaust system’s pair of chrome, rectangular tailpipe embellishers will be framed by additional chrome trim. Inside the car, the BMW steering wheel features wood inlays, and the V12 lettering in the instrument cluster – whose speedometer extends as far as 260 km/h (160 mph) – illuminates when the driver fires up the engine. The comfort-biased exhaust system also has a refined soundtrack, which improves the V12 Excellence's overall experience.
