Audi to increase capacity in the Aurangabad plant

Audi the German marvel car manufacturer with its growing popularity in the Indian auto market, plans to increase the capacity of its Aurangabad unit this year. As per the company officials the demand for the luxury cars are increasing.

Audi at present has production unit in Aurangabad for assembling Audi A6, Audi A4 and Audi Q5 car models for the domestic auto market. Other than these cars Audi India imports Audi A8, Audi R8 and Audi Q7 from its homeland.

Audi India since the end of 2007 began its local manufacturing of its cars in India. While last year it started its second shift operation at the production unit. The production capacity of the manufacturing unit is nearly 3000 cars.

Clemens Ollmert Audi India Marketing-Head said that the company has enough production capacity at the company's unit. The German auto company will also increase the production capacity. As per him, the auto mobile sold 3003 cars last year and for this year it has set a target of 4500 cars. As per company executives their present facility was enough to raise the manufacturing capacity. In future, the German auto mobile maker observed a 50 per cent growth in the last month and is expecting to grow further.

Yana Gupta the Indian model, with Ollmert launched the new High end luxury car Audi A8L loaded with 4.2 FSI V8 mill in Tamil Nadu auto market tagged at Rs 89 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai).

For January 2011, Audi India sold 480 cars which raised the sales by 57 per cent compared with 306 cars rolled out in the same time in 2010. Currently Audi rolls out Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7, Audi TT and Audi R8.
