In terms of powertrain options, the Altroz facelift continues to offer more variety. It is available with petrol, CNG, and diesel engines, while the Baleno doesn’t offer a diesel option. The Altroz now gets an AMT gearbox as well as a more sophisticated DCT gearbox with its petrol engine.
That said, the Baleno’s 4-cylinder engines produce more power and torque compared to the Altroz’s 3-cylinder unit. However, the diesel-powered Altroz delivers the highest output among all.

Both the 2025 Tata Altroz facelift and Maruti Baleno are well equipped, but the Altroz offers more modern features. It gets a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, a fully digital driver’s display with integrated maps, ambient lighting, a wireless phone charger, a sunroof, and a rear centre armrest with cupholders – features either missing or superior to what is there in the Baleno. The Baleno on the other hand offers a head-up display which is not found in the 2025 Altroz. The safety tech is largely similar in both cars.
Verdict

The 2025 Tata Altroz facelift is surely the more stylish and sportier-looking premium hatchback. It also offers more features and choices in its powertrain, including a frugal diesel engine. So, if you want a stylish hatchback packed with features, the new Altroz feels like the better deal.
The Maruti Baleno, on the other hand, remains a strong all-rounder. It offers smoother 4-cylinder petrol engines and a more affordable price tag. So, if you prefer a trusted car and better value for money, the Baleno is still a smart pick.
