Updated Scorpio likely to be showcased at 2020 Auto Expo.
Expected to get a new BS6 2.0-litre diesel engine in place of the current 2.5-litre and 2.2-litre diesel units.
Like the upcoming Thar, the new Scorpio is likely to get a petrol engine option as well.
The dash console layout uses similar dials but the screen has been moved up, flanked by the central AC vents.
New Scorpio might get bigger touchscreen infotainment system and more premium cabin finish.

The Mahindra Scorpio is due an update in 2020 and is expected to debut at the upcoming Auto Expo in February. The new Scorpio has been spied testing wrapped in camouflage and we’ve even had a peek at its interiors.

The new Scorpio’s cabin is also covered but some of the elements like the central console and the instrument cluster are visible. The dials look similar to the current model but the screen has now been moved up to a more suitable position on the dash and the central AC vents are now positioned on either side. The 7-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system may be upgraded to an 8-inch unit. Mahindra is expected to offer a more upmarket finish for the dashboard of the new Scorpio, including a dual-tone option. It is expected to grow in size as well and the side-facing third row of seats may be discontinued to meet the latest safety norms.

Mahindra is also expected to replace the current range of 2.2-litre and 2.5-litre diesel engine options. The new Scorpio will likely get a new 2.0-litre BS6 diesel engine that is expected to power the second-gen XUV500 as well. The SUV could also get a petrol engine in its new avatar. In fact, it could be the same 2.0-litre unit that is expected to power the new Thar.

The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio is expected to be priced in the same ballpark as the current model starting at Rs 10 lakh. It will continue to rival the Maruti S-Cross, Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Mahindra is likely to launch the new Scorpio in the first half of 2020.
