Tata Motors has been teasing an “all new” Tigor on its YouTube channel for the past week and it sure has caught our attention. It’s slated to launch on 10 October but the images have already been leaked on the internet. Let’s look at what we can expect from the Tata come launch day.

So far, the teasers have revealed the Tigor in a new shade which seems similar to the Hexa’s Arizona Blue colour. There are also small updates like slightly tweaked headlamps, clear lens tail lamps and a shark fin antenna on the outside. On the inside, the 2018 Tata Tigor sports a touchscreen bigger than the current 5-inch unit, with Tata’s connected application suite as well. Tata could be introducing a new top variant which will be loaded with the above-mentioned features over the existing top XZ(O) variant.

Since this is an update, the engine options should remain the same. Thus it will continue to be powered by the same set of 3-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The latter is a 1.05-litre unit which produces 70PS/140Nm while the former pumps out 85PS/112Nm. A 5-speed MT comes as standard, and there’s a 5-speed AMT also available with the petrol engine.

The Tata Tigor was launched less than two years ago and this update will arm the sedan with some necessities to keep it alive in the cut-throat sub-4m segment. A segment that has been further heated by the entry of the Ford Aspire facelift with a set of new petrol engines. Its other rivals include the Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and the VW Ameo.
