Speaking of the test mule, Chevrolet has camouflaged the front and the rear profile of the vehicle. The new Beat will have a similar side profile with the ongoing car since the platform has been carried forward. The doors are nearly identical. The new Beat’s twin compact sedan, which also made its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, will also share the same platform.

Mechanically, the new Beat will most likely carry forward the current set of engine options. At present, it comes with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre three-cylinder diesel engine options, both mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Expect the engine to be subtly tuned, obviously. There is also the possibility of an AMT (automated manual transmission) option as well, along with the standard five-speed unit.

In terms of features, the highlight will be the introduction of Chevy’s global MyLink infotainment system in the new Beat twins. Announced at the Expo itself, both the cars will boast Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto support with the latest MyLink infotainment unit.

The next-gen Beat will be launched in 2017 along with the Spin MPV and its twin compact sedan, the Beat Essentia
