2015 Toyota Camry facelift to hit NY Motor Show

Toyota is expected to hit the facelifted Camry at the upcoming New York Motor Show next month. The update is suppose to be a mid-life refresh to spruce up the Camry in order to tackle rivals more efficiently. Toyota India launched the current Camry back in 2012 and later, the hybrid version of the vehicle. Expect the same changes to carry forward in the Indian version of Camry to be introduced sometime later this year or early 2015.

According to Toyota officials, the vehicle is expected to receive subtle changes to make it look more contemporary. President of Toyota's Calty Design Research has earlier stated that the car will receive “more emotional, more impactful design." There's little known until now, but it is speculated that the car will retain the powertrains from the current version.

In India, Camry is offered in two variants, namely, petrol and hybrid version. The facelift when arrives in India will borrow the same powertrains. The petrol variant is powered by the 2.5 liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine churning out 181PS and 233NM of max torque. The Hybrid avatar features same 2.5 liter engine producing a slightly lower 160 PS (for efficiency) and is coupled to a electric motor churning out 143PS and maximum torque output of 270Nm. The Hybrid system produces a total output of 205PS.

Toyota might incorporate an oil burner with this update, as Camry in India only comes in petrol variants. Most of the rivals of the vehicle offer diesel and that might be the reason for the car, which is not gathering expected sales for the company.
