2013 Honda Civic to Come to Indian Shores
The 2013 Honda Civic Asia model was first launched in Thailand last month. This is the 9th generation Honda Civic and features a pretty futuristic design overall. This, coupled with the fact that Honda had not made any major changes for the past 6 years, adds to the appeal of this car. Both the front and rear incorporate some changes. The front features projector type headlamps with a slight tweak in the design. The side view of the new Civic is pretty much the same as that of its predecessor; however the length of the car has been shortened by 30 mm. The rear view of the Civic shows the same basic design albeit with a few minor tweaks.
The bumper has also been poked and prodded to inculcate a few design tweaks. The interiors seem to have been changed just as much as the exteriors. The Central console seems to have been shifted slightly closer to the driver side for easier accessibility and the steering wheel has had a re-vamp in its basic design structure. The steering wheel also features a changed set of controls. The Thailand version of the new Civic also features sat-nav, rear camera, start-stop button and a new ECO mode option for greater efficiency. It is however unlikely that all these features will be available in the Indian version of the Honda Civic.
The Thailand version comes in two options; the 1.8-litre I-VTEC and the 2.0-litre I-VTEC engine. The 1.8-litre engine is capable of producing 141ps and 174 Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre engine offers 155ps and 190 Nm of torque. Though the Thailand version of the Civic doesn’t include a diesel option, the Indian version can be expected to carry a diesel variant. It is also likely that only the 1.8-litre petrol version will be launched in India. Now let’s play the waiting game to see when Honda will launch the 2013 Honda Civic in India.
