Toyota has been working on the CNG variant of the Glanza for some time now and it seems to be nearing its likely launch this festive season. The Delhi RTO recently issued a Type Approval Certificate revealing its specifications and variants. This could make the Toyota Glanza the first premium CNG hatchback in the country, ahead of its “Indian” counterpart, the Maruti Baleno.

Glanza CNG Variants
All the variants of the premium hatchback will get a CNG option save for the base-spec Glanza E. The S, G and V trims will have a Bi-fuel CNG setup with the same features as their regular petrol counterparts.
Engine and Transmission
The Glanza CNG will get the same 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine also seen on the Maruti Dzire CNG, where it produces 77PS and 98.5Nm in CNG mode, which is 13PS and 14.5Nm less than the output on petrol. We can expect the same figures for the Glanza CNG.
This engine will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission only. The AMT option will only be available with the petrol model.
Price and Launch
The Toyota Glanza’s CNG variants could be priced at a premium of Rs 1 lakh over the corresponding petrol variants. The Glanza S is priced at Rs 7.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), suggesting a starting price for the CNG variants from around Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The premium hatchback with factory-fitted CNG is expected to launch this festive season.
