Renaults Scala and Pulse models recalled in India
Carmaker Renault has issued a recall of its hatchback model – Pulse and its mid-sized sedan – Scala in India stating faulty airbag issues. The nationwide recall will include 646 units of the Pulse and the Scala which were manufactured during the period of September 2011 to July 2012.
So far there have been no untoward incidents with either of the vehicles, however to be on the safe side and keeping customer safety as priority Renault decided to crackdown on this to prevent any unforeseen accidents. The affected parts will be replaced and this will be done at Renault dealerships nationwide.
Renault’s joint venture partner Nissan had also issued a recall of 90,000 units of its compact hatch the Micra as well as its sedan, the Sunny in October last year owing to faulty airbags. Since the industry auto body SIAM started a voluntary recall of vehicles for safety related issues in 2012, over seven lakh vehicles have been recalled by various automakers in the country over the years for various issues. These include big names from the industry such as Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Mahindra, Ford, Honda and General Motors.
Of all the recalls in the country, the biggest has been that of Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki, when the automaker recalled 1,03,311 units of its models Ertiga, Swift and Swift Dzire between November 2013 and February 2014 in order to replace a faulty fuel filler neck.
