Renault Kwid 1-L to Be Launched in June; AMT to Be Introduced Around Diwali

The Renault Kwid’s 1.0-litre and 1.0-litre AMT versions were showcased at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The French automaker has not given any official word on the launch of the car, but confirmed that both of these offerings will make their way to the Indian market in 2016, this year.
When Renault Kwid was launched in India, it garnered an overwhelmingly positive reception, courtesy of its segment- first features, impressive aesthetics, competitive price and segment-best fuel economy of 25.1 kmpl. Similarly, the 1.0-litre version of the Renault Kwid is also highly anticipated by the Indian consumer-base because of its enhanced power output and the convenience offered by the automatic transmission unit. It is expected that Renault’s new powerplant will churn out 70 PS of peak power output and will rival the stats offered by its rivals like the Maruti Alto and the Hyundai Eon, which are available with 800cc as well as 1.0-litre engines. The larger engines naturally produce more power and are suited for people who want that extra punch for an occasional highway stint. With 70PS of power on tap, the Kwid 1.0 is sure to be a hoot to drive!
It is also expected that the French automaker will bestow the Kwid with a host of safety features, which will include additional airbags and ABS. It is also unclear at this point whether the Kwid automatic unit will be exclusively offered on Its 1.0-litre variant or if it will also make its way to the 800cc model. Considering the fact that the AMT gearboxes only reduce the fuel economy by a small margin, incorporation of an automatic unit in the 800cc variant might result in the hatch becoming the most fuel- efficient petrol car available in India.
