Ready to be showcased at the Beijing Auto Show, Ford EcoSport is the newest model inspired by the ‘One Ford’ global product philosophy. Ford EcoSport is expected to help Ford enhance its foothold in the growing markets of the world including India. Ford is going to roll out eight products in India by the mid of this decade and Ford EcoSport is the second of these eight planned vehicles. The company has also planned an investment of 2 billion USD in the development and production of these vehicles. Architected on the high acclaimed B2E platform of Ford and Mazda, EcoSport is code named as B515.
The B2E platform is known for saving weight and providing torsional rigidity. Ford EcoSport is highly similar to the new Fiesta when it comes to specifications; the design speaks the SUV language which is evident from the space-efficient interiors, the chunky five-door structure and the technical styling rendered to the car. The front of the car is reigned by a large grille which is trapezoidal in shape, flaking the grille are conventional and slim headlights, the lower bumper and the side sills get cladding. The side profile on the car sports brawny arches on the wheels, the windows get an upward twirl and the roof is graced by chrome rails. The car is bestowed with impressive engine specifications that include the debutante 1.0-liter, three-cylinder, direct-injection turbo petrol engine capable of pumping out power similar to the 1.6-liter motor.
The other engine option is the existing 1.5-liter diesel engine from the Fiesta. The Ford EcoSport is also anticipated to deliver an exceptional fuel economy. The most enticing attribute of Ford EcoSport is the price tag that it flaunts, this charming, frugal, cutting-edge, stylish and affordable car is priced somewhere between Rs. 7-9 lakh. With its reasonable price tag, Ford EcoSport will sit as a compelling alternative for a premium hatchback or entry-level sedan. EcoSport’s rival SUVs in India include the upcoming Renault Duster, yet to be revealed compact SUVs from Skoda and Volkswagen and the production version of Maruti XA-Alpha SUV.
