5 Things From New Mahindra Vision Concepts That Should Make Their Way To Production-spec Version

From a curved dual-display setup to a touch panel for AC controls, Mahindra has shown quite a few fresh features as part of its new Vision concepts

Mahindra recently unveiled four new concepts along with a new platform called the ‘NU IQ’. All four concepts, namely the Mahindra Vision S, Vision X, Vision T and Vision SXT, will be based on the same new platform and will be launched starting from 2027 onwards. While the entire feature set of the new concepts hasn’t been revealed, the four showcase cars did have something unique to offer, which we hope to see on the production-spec versions too. Here’s a list:

Curved Dual-display Setup

Although Mahindra did roll out dual digital displays in its cars starting with the XUV700 back in 2021, a curved dual-display setup as seen in modern BMWs is something the Indian marque may be planning to do going ahead. It was hinted at in the Vision X concept, which has a futuristic-looking cabin, thanks to its fighter jet cockpit-like design. We have already seen Mahindra take similar design inspiration with its BE 6 electric SUV, but it doesn’t get a curved dual-digital display setup.

Touch Panel For AC Controls

Another innovative feature for a Mahindra could be a touchscreen panel for AC controls that was observed in the Vision T concept. It’s similar to what we have seen on some Audi cars. The touch panel is neatly integrated into the vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment system of the Vision T.

Tyres In Payload Bay

While not entirely new as a concept, the off-road-oriented tyres in the payload bed of the Vision T also make you want them on the production-spec version. Mahindra had earlier showcased a similar lifestyle pickup off-roader concept in the form of the Scorpio N-based Global Pik Up back in 2023 with a larger payload bay. It also had a flatbed featuring an off-road-specific set of tyres to add to its sporty nature.

Jerry Cans

Speaking of off-roading, another feature that could turn out to be crucial in emergency scenarios during such trips is extra fuel on hand. It can be made possible using the jerry can that features on the Vision S sub-4m SUV concept. Given that the Vision S, Vision T and Vision SXT could be off-roading-friendly, Mahindra offering each of them with a jerry can for practical benefits doesn’t seem much of a stretch.

A Defender-like Steering Wheel

Another design detail from a couple of new concepts showcased by Mahindra that looks inspired by another popular off-roader is the steering wheel. You may notice how close the steering wheel on the Vision SXT looks to that of the Land Rover Defender SUV. It will also likely have a similar set of controls for audio, calling, instrument cluster, cruise, and infotainment unit as seen on most of the cars in today’s times.

These are our top five things to look out for from the concept to production-spec versions of these Mahindra offerings. What other feature(s) from the four concepts do you think Mahindra should offer on the final model? Let us know in the comments.
