People are generally sceptical when buying an electric vehicle because of the charging infrastructure in our country. What many don’t realise is that this infrastructure is getting better every day, and one of the main proponents is Jio-bp Pulse.
About Jio-bp Pulse
Jio-bp Pulse is one of India’s biggest Charge Point Operators (CPOs) with a presence in almost every major Indian city and also on major Indian highways and expressways. Jio-bp Pulse also has a wide variety of public charging points across the country, which include chargers with capacities ranging from 3.3 kW to 480 kW, depending on your needs.
Say you have a Tata Nexon EV with the largest battery pack on offer, the 40.5 kWh unit (or Long Range, as Tata Motors calls it), and you want to charge it. Tata Motors claims the Nexon EV requires 56 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 per cent, using a 50 kW DC fast charger.
Time Taken To Charge?
Let’s say you’re completely out of charge in your Nexon EV and head to a 60 kW DC fast charger at the Jio-bp Pulse outlet; you’d end up spending close to 1 hour and 20 minutes if you want to fully charge your car. Even if you go to a faster charger, with, say, a 120 kW speed, you’d still have to wait for that time because the car only supports up to 50 kW DC.
You’d also end up spending around 12 hours to fully charge the Nexon EV if you use a 3.3 kW AC charger that Jio-bp Pulse provides at multiple outlets. But why should you spend so much time charging your car when Jio-bp Pulse has a plethora of fast chargers in its arsenal?
You Can Get A Charge Too!
At a Jio-bp Pulse charging station, the wait time will feel like a breeze, thanks to the Wildbean Cafe present at major outlets. While your car charges, you can charge yourself too, with a nice cup of coffee and some snacks. Who said the time your car charges has to be boring and mundane?
Subscribe And Save!
Another great part of going with Jio-bp Pulse is that you can take up a subscription and save a lot of money on charging your Nexon EV. There are two subscription packs that Jio-bp Pulse offers – All India Pulse Lite and All India Pulse Max. Depending on your choice and requirements, the subscription service aims to save up to Rs 3,450 per subscription.
The All India Pulse Lite subscription lasts three months and is priced at Rs 5,625. This provides you with a discounted charging tariff. For example, the tariff is Rs 24 per kWh, and with this subscription, the cost will be reduced to Rs 18.75 per kWh, and you can use 300 kW units to charge your car. With the All India Pulse Max, the charging rates drop from Rs 24 to Rs 20.25 per kWh, but it gives you 600 kW units to charge your car.
So, in the end, all's happy when you and your car both get a charge and save at the same time!
