X-Trail vs CR V vs Pajero: Can hybrid be the new trend?

Nissan showcased its SUV X-Trail Hybrid at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2016. The car was previously unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. When launched in India, it will be the only hybrid vehicle in its segment and will closely compete with Honda CR V and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. For those who are planning to buy a car in this segment and are not yet sure about which one to go for, we have compared the three SUVs on specific parameters. Yes, the race seems pretty close. CR V and Pajero have been in the market for a while and it won’t be easy for Nissan’s product to forge its way in. But, it is worth noting that Pajero Sport has not invoked a very encouraging response from SUV lovers. Also, X-Trail is not new to the Indian market either. The car was on sale in India for a period of approximately 10 years. It was discontinued in 2014 as demand generated by it was not as high as expected by the automaker.

Now when Nissan brings the hybrid variant of X-Trail this time around, it will employ the latest technology where the electric mill alone delivers 40 bhp of power and 160 Nm of torque. Advantages like better pick-up and more environment-friendly are inherent with electric vehicles and are obvious to this four-wheeler too. Fuel efficiency is another domain where it will dominate the race. With all these factors, Nissan’s to-be-launched SUV won’t be an easy obstacle to overcome.
