Toyota had shut its plant recently due to the union labour issues. The Japanese-manufacturer was in talks with the Karnataka government to help to come to a conclusion. Toyota has two plants in India, both are in Karnataka, close from Bengaluru.

The official statement from Toyota is, “We will keep our shifts running and the plants will be open for team members to join duty on the condition that they would sign the simple good conduct undertaking. The company will welcome any steps that the Government of Karnataka can take to resolve the matter at the earliest.”

Toyota had showcased the new Corolla Altis and the Toyota Etios Cross at the Auto Expo. These vehicles will see the daylight very soon in India. The Corolla Altis is an all new generation sedan and we can expect it to be launched by mid-2014. The Etios Cross will be launched sometime this year, however we will have to wait and watch.

Toyota has also been working on the hybrid versions of its existing models. We will come to know soon, on when could we expect the hybrid vehicles to be launched in the coming two years. Toyota was the first manufacturer to introduce a CNG in the Corolla Altis, making it segment first. The company has plans to go green and reduce its carbon footprint globally and something similar will be implemented in India too.
