The Maruti Fronx and Toyota Glanza have a lot in common with the Maruti Baleno. While the Glanza is a rebadged version of the Maruti hatchback, the Fronx can be considered a crossover version of the Baleno. 

When it comes to the top-spec manual variants of all three cars, the Fronx costs Rs 2 lakh more than the Glanza and Baleno. So, is it justified to pay this premium for the SUV-like appeal of the Fronx over the Glanza and Baleno when you're getting almost the same feature list in all three models? What Do You Get With Top-spec Variants Of All Three?

The Maruti Fronx, Baleno, and Toyota Glanza are all good looking cars. However, it’s the Fronx that will demand more attention thanks to its coupe-SUV-inspired design. Inside, too, all three cars come with the same dashboard layout, but again the Fronx’s black and maroon cabin theme and extra golden touches around the door handle makes it look more premium.

The feature list on all models are practically identical, including the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, heads-up display, cruise control, and auto climate control. The only unique feature in the Fronx over both the hatchbacks is the wireless phone charger. When it comes to safety, all three models come with up to six airbags, hill hold assist (AMT only), ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors, and a 360-degree camera.

The Fronx has a significant advantage over the Glanza and Baleno. It gets the option of a 1-litre turbo petrol engine (100PS/148Nm), mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. So if you want a punchier performance for highway runs, the turbo is likely to meet your needs.

Whereas as with the Glanza and Baleno, you only get a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine (90PS/113Nm) mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.

What If You Consider A Mid-spec Fronx Over The Top-spec Glanza?

The Delta Plus turbo manual variant of the Fronx is priced at Rs 9.72 lakh, which places it in the same price range as the top-spec Toyota Glanza and the Baleno. In this Fronx variant, you'll get the 1-litre turbo petrol engine, but the features are somewhat compromised. The infotainment system is downsized to a smaller 7-inch touchscreen, and it lacks a heads-up display, wireless phone charger, cruise control, and rear AC vents. Moreover, there's a reduction in safety features, as this variant of the Fronx doesn't come with six airbags or even a rearview camera.

After considering all these compromises, the Toyota Glanza and Maruti Baleno emerge as the better choices over the mid-spec variant of the Fronx. But if you desire good highway performance, more imposing looks, along with the same set of features found in the Baleno or Glanza, you should definitely consider the top-spec Alpha variant of the Maruti Fronx.

Prices

The Maruti Fronx is priced from Rs 7.46 lakh to Rs 13.13 lakh, whereas the Baleno is sold between Rs 6.61 lakh and Rs 9.88 lakh. The prices for the Toyota Glanza range from Rs 6.81 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
