    Toyota, Nissan to resume production in Japan

    After the devastating earthquake and Tsunami struck Japan, the Japanese auto biggies were shattered. But it seems the auto giants like Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi are contemplating on reopening some of the plants. Though it will take some time to start the full-fledged production.

    Power supply shortages as well as the components vendors is a matter of worry for the Japanese auto giants such as Toyota, Honda, Suzuki and Nissan. The Indian arm of the respective Japanese auto companies will also be affected since they are also dependent on the parent companies for crucial component and technology.

    Toyota is likely to reopen seven plants in Aichi prefecture effective Thursday. The company had closed all the plants in Japan after the earthquake. The rest of the 21 plants will remain closed until March 22, 2011. Other auto companies like Nissan and affiliate are also considering about reopening the one plant on Thursday and another on March 18, 2011. The other two factories will remain closed until March 20, 2011 however the other one will be operational partially. As of now there has been no talks regarding reopening the sixth plant.

    On the other hand Mitsubishi also restarted production in three plants located in central and western Japan. Auto giants like Honda and Suzuki have still not decided on reopening the plants. The Honda and Mazda officials mentioned that the plants will remain closed until March 20. Maruti's parent company Suzuki have made it clear that all the Japanese factories will remain closed until March 21.
