In the mid-week of November, we saw the launch of the new special editions of two Volkswagen models, and Hyundai globally unveiled a facelifted version of one of its SUVs. The week further unfolded with new spy shots of upcoming EVs, and we also got an update on Tesla’s plans to enter India. Let’s have a look at all the important highlights of the week.

Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus Special Editions

The Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus have got yet another special edition, namely the Sound Edition. The changes in this new edition include exterior enhancements, such as graphics and stickers on the outside for both models, and an enhanced sound system as well. The feature list remains identical to that of their corresponding regular variants.

Hyundai’s New Initiative For Specially Abled 

Hyundai has announced the 'Samarth' campaign in India, through which the automaker aims to enhance the accessibility of its showrooms for specially abled individuals. In addition to this initiative, Hyundai will develop official accessories, such as swivel seats in collaboration with Mobis, to ensure that its cars are more user-friendly and accessible for people with varying mobility needs.

Toyota To Set Up A Third Manufacturing Plant In India

Toyota has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Karnataka to expand its manufacturing operations in India. The Japanese automaker will be setting up its third manufacturing plant in Karnataka, India in the next few years.

Update On Tesla’s India Plans

Import duties have been a significant factor contributing to the delayed arrival of Tesla in India. However, reports now suggest that the Indian government has agreed that Tesla could benefit from tax reduction for up to 5 years, but only if it sets up a manufacturing plant in India.

Hyundai Tucson Facelift Unveiled Globally

The Hyundai Tucson facelift has been unveiled globally with tweaked exterior look and an updated cabin. The new Tucson will be introduced in European markets in early 2024, and it could arrive in India later in the same year.

Spy Shots This Week

This week's spy shots include a bunch of upcoming EVs from Maruti, Mahindra, and Tata. The Maruti eVX was seen at a charging station, while we also saw the Tata Curvv EV doing rounds. The test mule of the Mahindra XUV.e8 was seen with fresh design details, while interior image of the XUV.e9 also surfaced on the internet for the first time.
