The facelifted TUV300, which has been launched as Bolero Neo, is likely to spawn its three-row version

  • TUV300 Plus was launched as a 9-seater version of the TUV300, but was discontinued when BS6 norms were implemented in April 2020.

  • It was over 400mm longer than the TUV300, making space for four extra side-facing seats.

  • We are expecting Mahindra to relaunch the facelifted TUV300 Plus as the ‘Bolero Neo Plus’ soon.

  • It will get the same changes seen on the Bolero Neo, but with a more powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine.

Mahindra has launched the Bolero Neo, which is essentially the facelifted TUV300, but since the manufacturer sold the TUV300 Plus as well, we are expecting it to be reintroduced as Bolero Neo Plus. The TUV300 Plus was basically an extended version of the TUV300, with a side-facing third row to accommodate up to nine people, but it was discontinued last year when the BS6 norms were implemented in April 2020.

The facelifted TUV300 Plus has already been spied testing and the Bolero Neo Plus could get similar changes. The Bolero Neo mainly features a new grille, reworked bumpers, new headlamps with DRLs, and a spoiler on the outside. The cabin gets cruise control and the Thar’s instrument cluster.

If launched, the Bolero Neo Plus will mostly come with the same 2.2-litre diesel engine that powered the pre-facelift model. The engine was rated at 120PS and 280Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. In comparison, the Bolero Neo gets a 100PS 1.5-litre diesel engine.

The Neo Plus is expected to be priced at a slight premium over the earlier recorded prices, possibly from Rs 9.92 lakh to Rs 11.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Even though it does not have any direct rivals as such, it takes on compact and subcompact SUVs such as the Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. It could even be a more affordable alternative to the Mahindra Scorpio.
