Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus expert overview
Overview
The Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus sits in a rather unique space in Mahindra’s lineup. It’s one of the lesser-known SUVs from the brand and yet offers a practical proposition, especially for buyers looking for a rugged, no-nonsense 9-seater SUV on a budget. While it might not have the popularity of the Mahindra Bolero, it shares a similar utilitarian focus, with a few modern touches thrown in.

It’s based on the Bolero Neo but stretches things out, literally, with more seats and a longer body. It’s targeted at tier-2 and rural markets, where space, durability, and affordability matter more than polish and tech.
Exterior
At first glance, the Bolero Neo Plus doesn’t try to be flashy. It follows the typical Bolero template: boxy, upright, and built with function over form in mind. That said, the added length does give it more road presence than the regular Neo.

The front gets a simple yet purposeful design with Mahindra’s signature grille, basic halogen headlights, and a tough-looking bumper. From the side, its elongated body is hard to miss, and the steel wheels reinforce its utilitarian vibe. The rear also keeps things honest, with vertically stacked tail lamps and a side-hinged tailgate.
This SUV might not win beauty contests, but it earns points for practicality and that old-school SUV charm.
Interior
Step inside the Bolero Neo Plus, and you’ll find a no-frills cabin designed to do the job. There’s fabric upholstery, lots of hard plastics, and everything is laid out logically. What stands out is the 3-row, 9-seater layout, something that’s a rarity in this price range.
The front and second rows are bench-type, while the last row gets side-facing jump seats that can accommodate two seats on either side. Legroom isn’t generous, but that’s the trade-off for maximum occupancy. The cabin feels spacious and airy, thanks to the tall windows and upright seating.
Storage spaces are limited, and while there’s no flashy tech here, the basics are covered well enough.
Features
The Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus offers a no-nonsense feature list that covers the essentials well. It comes equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports USB and Bluetooth connectivity (no Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), along with a 6-speaker sound system for basic entertainment needs. All four doors get power windows, and there's manual air conditioning to keep the cabin cool. Steering-mounted audio controls add a touch of convenience, while remote key entry and central locking enhance practicality.
The SUV also offers fabric upholstery, a 12V charging port, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. While it may not be loaded to the brim with modern-day tech, the Bolero Neo Plus delivers what matters most to its core audience: functionality.
Safety
On the safety front, the Bolero Neo Plus sticks to the basics. It comes with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control. ISOFIX child-seat mounts are included for added child safety, and there are seatbelt reminders for the front occupants.
Though it misses out on advanced safety tech like ADAS, Mahindra has ensured that the must-have safety features are present and accounted for.
It has not been tested by Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP yet, but the smaller Bolero Neo was tested by Global NCAP in 2024 and scored a disappointing 1 star.
Boot Space
With all seats in place, boot space is extremely limited. However, since the last row is side-facing and foldable, it can be reconfigured for carrying more luggage when needed. Flexibility is the name of the game here, especially for those using it as a people mover or for rural utility.
Performance
The Bolero Neo Plus is powered by the tried and tested 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. It produces 120 PS and 280 Nm, and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels.

| Specification | Bolero Neo Plus |
| Engine | 2.2-litre diesel |
| Power | 120 PS |
| Torque | 280 Nm |
| Transmission | 6-speed MT |
This engine has enough grunt to haul a full house of passengers without feeling strained, especially in city and semi-urban conditions. The ladder-frame chassis and rear-wheel-drive layout make it tough enough for bad roads and rural duty.
Variants
Mahindra offers the Bolero Neo Plus in two variants: P4 and P10. The P4 is the base model, priced at Rs 11.41 lakh, while the P10 is the top-spec variant and will set you back Rs 12.51 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom).
