The Tiago NRG is nothing but a crossover version of the standard Tiago

  • Like the pre-facelift model, the new Tiago NRG will feature cosmetic changes, including body cladding and blacked-out front grille and ORVMs.

  • It will get minor cosmetic differences inside the cabin too, but should get the same feature list as the regular model.

  • No mechanical changes will be made. The 2021 Tiago NRG will get the same 1.2-litre petrol engine.

  • Tata is expected to price it at a premium of Rs 28,000.

  • Its only direct competitor will be the Maruti Suzuki Celerio X.

The Tata Tiago will soon get back its rugged-looking version, the Tiago NRG. The carmaker will reintroduce the Tiago NRG on August 4, and it will be based on the facelifted model. The previous version was based on the pre-facelift Tiago and was discontinued ahead of the launch of the facelifted hatchback.

Tata had given the Tiago NRG a few cosmetic updates to set it apart from the standard model. These included body cladding and blacked-out roof and front grille. Similar changes can also be expected in the facelifted Tiago NRG.

Much like the pre-facelift Tiago NRG, the facelifted version will likely feature a few differences inside the cabin. These could be in the form of new upholstery with a tri-arrow design pattern and orange accents on the centre console and gear lever. However, features will probably not change; the hatch will continue with a 7-inch touchscreen system, auto AC, and an 8-speaker sound system. Safety kit will include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.

Under the bonnet, the facelifted Tiago NRG will get the same 1.2-litre petrol engine (86PS/113Nm) as the standard model. This unit can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. Tata should offer the 2021 Tiago NRG with both transmissions.

Prior to the facelift, the Tiago NRG was priced Rs 28,000 more than the regular Tiago, which is priced between Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 6.95 lakh ex-showroom. We expect a similar premium for the new Tiago NRG. Its only direct rival will be the Maruti Suzuki Celerio X.
