Tata Motors has finally launched the Nexon AMT at a starting price of Rs 9.41 lakh for the XZA+ petrol variant and Rs 10.30 lakh for the XZA+ diesel variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).  The XZ+ dual-tone variant (manual transmission), on which the XZA+ is based, costs Rs 9.02 lakh for the petrol version and Rs 9.89 lakh for the diesel. Along with the launch of the AMT variants, Tata has also launched an online customisation platform for the Nexon called Imaginator. A new orange shade with a contrasting silver roof has also been added to the existing list of five colour options.

Powering the Tata Nexon AMT, or in the company’s words, Hyprdrive S-SG (self-shift gears), are the same 1.2-litre revotron petrol and 1.3-litre revotorq diesel engines as its respective manual variants. While the petrol mill pumps out 110PS/170Nm, the diesel engine generates the same power, but a higher, 260Nm of torque. Both the engines can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) option. The three drive modes - Eco, City and Sport - are available with both the gearboxes.

The compact crossover’s AMT gets intelligent transmission controller, which features anti-stall, kick-down and fast-off functions, optimising the vehicle’s performance while overtaking or at the time of sudden acceleration.

While the Ford SUV gets a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic with its 1.5-litre petrol engine, the Mahindra gets a 5-speed AMT with its 1.5-litre diesel.
