Dimensions

The Tata Hexa is the longest (4,788mm) and widest (1,903mm) car here, and also has the longest wheelbase (2,850mm). In terms of length, the Innova Crysta stands second with 4,735mm, while the XUV500 comes third at 4,585mm. However, the Innova Crysta is 4mm taller than the Tata Hexa (1,791mm) and the XUV stands third again with 1,785mm height. The XUV500 is also the smallest car here in terms of wheelbase (2,700mm). While both the Tata Hexa and the XUV500 have 200mm of ground clearance, the Innova Crysta has 176mm.

Performance

The Innova has two diesel engines on offer – a 2.4-litre coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox and a 2.8-litre coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. While the 2.4-litre unit produces 150PS of power and 343Nm of torque, the 2.8-litre delivers 174PS/360Nm. The XUV500 and the Tata Hexa have only one diesel engine on offer. The XUV500 has a 2,179cc engine under the hood, which churns out 140PS and 330Nm. It offers both a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the Hexa is powered by a 2.2-litre engine which produces 156PS of power and a massive 400Nm of torque. While the Hexa offers a five-speed manual transmission on the base variant (which gets the same engine in a lower 150PS/320Nm tune), the higher variants have six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions.

Although the Innova Crysta misses the four-wheel–drive option present in the Tata Hexa and the XUV500, it is the only car here to have an optional petrol engine. The car has a 2,694cc petrol engine which produces 168.3PS of power and 245Nm of torque, and is offered with a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Features

The Tata Hexa is the newest car here and comes loaded with equipment. It offers multiple drive modes and has a 10-speaker JBL sound system. However, the Hexa doesn't come with some key features, such as passive keyless entry and push button start/stop which are offered on both the competing vehicles. While the Innova and the XUV500 have a power adjustable driver seat, the Hexa has a manually adjustable one. Also, the XUV500 is the only car here to offer a sunroof.

In terms of safety, all three are very well-equipped. The Mahindra and Tata get up to 6 airbags, while the Innova Crysta gets 7, and ABS with EBD comes as standard with all the cars here. Depending on the variant, all three also offer hill-start/hill-hold control, but only the XUV500 and Hexa get hill-descent control, though, on the latter, it's limited to the manual XT variants.
