SsangYong Tivoli will compete with the compact SUV line-up of the country headed by Hyundai Creta!

SsangYong has started testing Tivoli compact crossover in the country and it is expected to make its Indian debut at the Auto Expo in February 2016. The vehicle was launched in the European market earlier this year and comes with both petrol and diesel engine options. The recent entrant in the Indian automotive market in the compact SUV/Crossover segment - Hyundai Creta was a runaway hit. The Korean SUV has received close to 80,000 bookings since its launch in July. To win over the customers that are craving to own a Creta, “Tivoli" offers almost a similar package.

To start with, the Tivoli in Europe comes with 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines similar to what Creta offers. The 1.6-liter - e-XGi160 petrol engine delivers up to 128 PS @ 6,000 rpm of max power with 160Nm @ 4,600 rpm of peak torque. The e-XDi160 diesel engine produces 115 PS @ 3,400-4,000 rpm with an impressive 300 Nm @1,500-2,500 rpm of max torque. Both the motors come with standard 6-speed manual transmission while Aisin’s 6-speed automatic is optional. It is expected that Mahindra-SsangYong will offer 6-speed auto with the Tivoli as this will give it an added advantage to the new entrant considering the Creta’s 6-speed auto diesel has the maximum waiting period! Moreover, it offers both 2WD and 4WD configurations.

The SsangYong Tivoli measures 4,195 mm in length, overall width is 1,795 mm  with 1,590 mm of height. The vehicle features a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. The stats are comparable to its rivals - Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta.
