Skoda to bring back the Octavia brand name
After tasting success with its very first-model— the Octavia— in India, Skoda decided to introduce the newer generation Octavia under a new brand name Laura. With this, the company continued to sell the Octavia and the Laura. The Czech-based automaker introduced a facelift version of the Laura in 2009 and the Octavia got phased-out when the BS-IV emission norms were implied. Now, our sources confirm that the new Laura (Octavia as it is known worldwide) will make a debut next year.

This time around, Skoda will rebadge it as the Octavia, even in India. The Octavia brand name has been more successful than the Laura and also the worldwide name of the product is the same. Hence, Skoda India will rename the new upcoming Laura as the Octavia. Recently launched Citigo and Rapid in Europe have got the new MissionL design language. The new generation Octavia will follow the same design cues and will have larger dimensions than the current version and will be based on the new VW MQB platform.
