Published On Feb 05, 2009 03:42 PM By Vikas for Reva i

Reva the Indian based leading electric car manufacturer is planning to increase its production double fold in Indian in. The decision is a bit surprising as almost all leading car manufacturers in India and around the world are cutting down their production.

Reva also sells electric cars in many European as well as in Asian countries. Due to volatile crude oil pries and growing environment pollution the concept of electric cars is becoming popular though at very slow rate.

In January 2009 Reva group and reliance digital collaborated for selling Reva cars in reliance digital stores all across India. India has one of the largest middle class populations and due to increase in middle class income many car manufacturers sees India as potential future auto market. Reva is planning to meet this demand of middle class by manufacturing large number of electric cars.

Government is also responding well by decreasing the cost price of electric cars by giving subsidies up to Rs.4 lakhs in Delhi. Reva is also planning to build its new plant with platinum-level LEED certification for green buildings, with CO2 monitor and solar energy system.
