Renault to Bring in the Dacia Lodgy at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo
Renault has been quite successful in the India market in recent times mostly thanks to the Renault Duster that has done wonders for the auto maker. Additionally Renault has at least one car in every segment that is doing quite well; correction, almost every segment. The MPV segment is still open to Renault and with the 2014 New Delhi Auto Expo coming in; Renault has plans to fill in this vacuum. Renault plans to present its own version of the Dacia Lodgy at the 2014 New Delhi Auto Expo!
The Dacia Lodgy made its world debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, before going on sale in Europe. True to MPV fashion, the Lodgy is a 7-seater, front-wheel-drive that sits on a modified version of the chassis used in the Renault Duster and Logan. Under the hood of the European Lodgy sits the K9K 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. We expect the Lodgy’s Indian counterpart to come with similar spec as in the case of the Duster. We can however expect the Indian version to look a tad bit flashier to please the Indian customers.
The Dacia Lodgy will most probably be priced in such a way as to position it a bit below the Duster so as to rival the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga that has been gathering up a lot of sales figures. Now the MPV already has dimensions that beat the Ertiga and Nissan Evalia and come just short of beating the segment leader Toyota Innova. So we’re looking at good value pricing to compete against the Ertiga and enough space and comfort to match that of the Toyota Innova. How can this car fail in India?
