Renault’s Indian subsidiary has reportedly put a temporary stop on the production of its Scala sedan and Pulse hatchback, citing low demands of these models in the country. As per the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the company hasn’t rolled out Scala from the facility since 183 units were manufactured in May last year, while the last batch of the Pulse was made in October, accounting for mere 59 units.

Interestingly, Renault is in no mood to discontinue either Pulse or Scala models just as yet, despite low sales for these models. Furthermore, the company will most likely launch the facelifts for both the models, in a bid to give a push to the stagnant sales currently. And once the refreshed models will arrive in the market, the production is expected to get back its pace again.

As most of you must be aware that the Pulse and Scala are the re-badged counterparts of the Nissan Micra and Sunny, respectively. Even the Japanese auto major has been to keep the sales chart ticking as they also managed to sell only 652 units of the Micra and 391 units of the Sunny in January 2015.

Renault offers the Scala with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options, while the Pulse is being offered with a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel mills.
