Nissan Magnite Spied In Top-Spec Variant With Alloy Wheels

Nissan unveiled the concept version of its sub-4m SUV, christened Magnite, on July 16. The production-spec Magnite has now been spied with heavy camouflage. It seems to be a high-spec variant since it sports a rear spoiler, rear wiper, and alloy wheels.

The Magnite features a striking face with a large grille and sharp looking headlamps. The front end will bear similarities to Datsun models in terms of that grille. The test mule is also seen flaunting the flared wheel arches as seen on the Magnite concept.

The Magnite will share its underpinnings with the Renault Triber and hence is expected to be a spacious offering. It is likely to be packed with features such as connected car tech, cruise control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rearview monitor, and a sunroof. A 360-degree camera will also be on offer as confirmed by Nissan at the time of unveiling.

The Magnite will be a petrol-only offering. It will likely be available with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (from the Triber) as well as a new 1.0-litre turbocharged motor. While the former is likely to be paired to a 5-speed manual, the more powerful engine could be coupled with a CVT along with the standard manual gearbox. The naturally aspirated 1.0-litre petrol engine is rated at 72PS while the turbo-petrol unit is expected to make 100PS of power.

Nissan is expected to launch the Magnite in January 2021 with prices beginning from Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Ford EcoSport. The upcoming Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger (HBC) and Toyota Urban Cruiser will also compete against Nissan’s sub-4m SUV.
