New Kicks SUV to lead Nissan’s strategy for India; biggest SUV in its segment
Powered by 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines; no automatic transmission at launch
Will compete with Creta and Renault cousins, the Duster and Captur, as well as the 2019 Kia SP concept-based SUV
The India-spec Nissan Kicks SUV is set to launch today with an expected starting price of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). This compact SUV shares its platform as well as the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines with Renault’s Captur and Duster. However, its main rival in the segment is the Hyundai Creta.
Nissan’s new strategy for India to position itself as a premium mainstream brand will be led by the new Kicks compact SUV. We already know a lot about the Kicks from our recent drive (review here) and thanks to a leaked brochure, we also know that it will be offered in four variants and seven colours (details here).
In terms of features, the Kicks seems adequately equipped with dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, rear parking sensors, cruise control, auto AC and more as standard equipment. The top-spec variant also gets side airbags at the front, cornering front fog lamps, LED projector headlamps, a 360-degree view camera and rain-sensing wipers, among other features.
The Kicks is bigger in size than the Creta and is expected to be similarly priced. You can read more about the expected prices of the Nissan Kicks here. Stay tuned to CarDekho for more details as soon as we have them.
