Next-Gen Audi A5 Sportback Teased, Global Debut On June 2

Continuing with its teaser streak, Audi has revealed yet another GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) image of its upcoming next-gen Audi A5 Sportback. It provides the onlooker with a glimpse of the headlamps and the car’s silhouette. Initially available only as a coupe, the car will make its world debut on June 2 in Germany.
Furthermore, the teaser images reveal the Matrix LED headlights and the sharper overall posture. However, unlike the recently launched Audi A4, the headlamps are more angular this time and do not feature the kink. The exterior has sleek lines on the bonnet and the side profile, and a large hexagonal grille at the front. It is claimed by the company to be more aerodynamic than its predecessor.
We expect the interiors of the new A5 Sportback to feature similar design cues as seen on the new A4. This means the Audi Virtual Cockpit (fully digital TFT instrument console) will make its way over.
The Audi A5 will be based on Audi’s MLB Evo platform. The car is expected to be lighter by at least 100kg, thereby making it more fuel efficient and performance-oriented than its previous generation.
As far as the engines are concerned, the new Audi A5 Sportback might borrow them from the new A4. In the global markets, the coupe will have twin options -- the TFSI petrol and the TDI diesel, while in India, only the top-of-the-line S5 model is expected.
Keep an eye out on this space to know more about the global unveiling of the next-gen Audi A5.
