Next generation Chevrolet Cruze to enter in India in 2015

Chevrolet has started testing the second generation Cruze globally and it is expected that the next- generation sedan will land in India somewhere in 2015. The GM India had launched the Cruze in 2009 and the vehicle received a mild facelift recently last year. Cardekho updated you about the GM's plan to launch small displacement turbocharged EcoTec' range of petrol engines at the 84th Geneva Motor Show, well as per the speculations the next-generation Cruze will be powered by these new 'EcoTec' engines globally.

GM India offers Cruze only in diesel guise while top most rival Octavia comes in diesel and turbo petrol avatars, seeing the competition GM might bring the second generation Cruze with turbo-charged petrol in India. The diesel variants will be powered by the existing 2.0 VCDI mill churning out 166PS of power and 380Nm of torque and matted to a six speed manual transmission. As far as 'EcoTec' petrol is considered, the next-generation Cruze will be powered by a 1.4 litre four-cylinder turbocharged mill gathering power approximately 150PS and and 235 Nm of peak torque.

Cruze is the flagship product for GM India when it comes to D segment sedan space, and recently this segment is stirred-up with the revival of Skoda Octavia. The next-generation Toyota Corolla will also be launched anytime soon in the plus Renault also launched the updated Fluence. Sales of the Cruze are falling considerably, despite with the subtle facelift recently. GM will probably bring the sedan in the falls of 2014 or early 2015.
