New Swift 2011 tagged safest in UK
The recent achievement of being tagged as safest supermini car in UK has further increased the anticipation for Maruti Swift 2011 edition in India. The new swift which is longer, wider, higher than the existing Maruti Swift is hoped to be launched in the next few months in India.

The new Swift was launched in Europe soon after production began at the company’s plant in Hungary. Once the car is launched in India, it is quite certain that it will give a tough fight to similar segment cars such as Hyundai i20, Chevrolet Aveo UVA, Nissan Micra and Volkswagen Polo.

Besides being acclaimed as the safest car, the new Swift has also received four-star rating based on the European New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) norms. However, new Swift’s ranking just missed the grading given to Fiat Grande Punto and Volkswagen Polo. Both of these have been ranked higher than the Swift.

Besides its robust structure and high impact resistance, the new Swift also comes with a variety of safety features that are part of the standard version. The European version of the new Swift has Anti-lock braking system (ABS) to avoid locking of brakes, EBD, Brake Assist apart from airbags for passengers, curtain bags. One of the safety feature that make the new Swift safer is that the seat belts come with pre-tensioners in order to ensure that the driver and passengers do not get hurt during an impact. However, there are remote chances that similar safety features would be available in the Indian version of the new swift.
