M&M's New Compact SUV specs leaked

Mahindra Mahindra was recently in news for working on a new compact SUV (Sports Utility vehicle) for the Indian Auto market. But that makes no new news, sensational news is that the specifications of this new concept have been known now and with that, the existence of this SUV is confirmed.

The few essential details managed to come out of the company's Chakan based manufacturing plant near Pune. As per the reliable industry source, this upcoming SUV from Indian auto giant will be placed below its famous SUV Mahindra Scorpio and will target the buyers interested in the compact SUVs.

The engine options to be available in this upcoming compact SUV is 1.2 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel. The diesel engine loaded in this model is expected to be an offshoot of 2.2 Liter CRDe diesel used in Mahindra Xylo and Mahindra Scorpio. The company is working on the reduction of excise duty and thus the car will measure under 4.2 meters. The lower excise duty largely helps the company in reducing the cost of car thus giving a great low price advantage.

The company is working seriously on this compact Sports Utility vehicle as Indian manufacturer wants to grab a good share of pie out of this lucrative segment in the Indian Auto market. The company has good experience in manufacturing great SUVs based on sophisticated technologies which is expected to be seen in this upcoming compact SUV too.

MM has shown a commendable performance in the domestic market in December 2010 by registering a hike of 42 per cent (YoY) for 34,062 units and 1,999 tractors in export. The company officials have commented that maintaining the same growth in running year and coming times will become a little difficult because of increasing input costs and other economical factors.
