Mercedes-Benz B-class Sports Tourer is in the headlines ever since the German auto giant communicated to bring in the B-Class to India, what makes it more special is the fact that, this is the cheapest ever Merc by far in India and is the first premium car from the automaker. After its unveiling at the Buddh International Circuit in Noida, it further increased the hype and sensation. Now finally the wait is over, as Mercedes-Benz has today launched the vehicle in two variants B 180 and B180 Sport at a price of Rs 21.49 lakh and 24.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai)

The Mercedes-Benz B-Class derives its power from a 1.6-litre turbo mill mated to 7G-DCT (Automatic Seven Speed Dual Clutch Transmission) that helps it accelerate from 0-100kmph in 10.2 seconds and touch and reach the top speed of 190kmph, proving it to be one of the most powerful vehicles of its segment. It delivers the maximum of 122bhp. It also gets the paddle shift that enables the driver to change the gears on the go. It equally impresses at the fuel economy, it returns a mileage of 14.8kmpl. The B-Class has come out in three exciting colours, Jupiter Red, Circus White and Polar Silver Metallic.
Showing the confidence in the all new B-Class, Debasis Mitra- Director- Sales & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz India said “We are extremely excited with the initial response of the B-Class in India. Our Strategy of introducing the segment & then launching the car has been well received by our customers. The huge response only demonstrates that the Three Pointed Star is easily the most aspired brand in India and kicks off a beginning of our product offensive in next couple of year in India.”
The Mercedes-Benz has sold a total of 75,000 B-Class across the globe within six month of its launch, while in India, the company has already booked 250 cars that they will start delivering in 4-5 days. Speaking about the competition, He further added that we are not competing with the Luxury Compact SUVs, we are launching an all new segment, so there will not be any competition. He also said that the target group of the vehicle are exclusively the young people ageing between 25-30 who have started their professional career and are adventure lovers.
Currently the Mercedes-Benz B-Class has come out in Petrol version only, the diesel has been speculated to come later on. The standard features that are made available are Attention Assist, 7-airbags, Lane Assist, AMG Style Steering wheel, ECO start/stop and various others. Moreover, it has got the LMR 7-twin spoke design wheels and Panoramic Sunroof making it look ultra modern. The B-class will initially come as a CKD to help it become at a competitive price.
