    Mercedes Benz and BMW offer hefty work packages to engineers from Gujarat, India

    Looks like, auto sector is not the only one being benefited by the magnanimity of the German auto giants, Mercedes Benz and BMW. These two luxury car makers along with the companies like Airbus, Bosch and Voith have offered 50 engineering student from various colleges affiliated to Gujarat Technical University (GTU) a package of Rs. 27 lakh per annum and above. These soaring results have come out after a tough interview process of 130 students with the highest Cumulative Performance Index (CPI).

    The interview process was conducted last week by the HR firm Die-PA GMBH. Dr. Akshai Aggarwal, the Vice Chancellor of GTU reported that the officials from BMW, Mercedes Benz and other companies have selected 50 students and soon they would be sending the offer letters to the students. He also mentioned that the annual package offered to the students is 41,000 euros out of which 33,000 would be take-home salary. Dr. Aggarwal also stressed on the fact that most of the selected students have a rural background as they belong to small villages of Gujarat.

    The emphasis was solely on the highest CPI and the university is very pleased to see the students getting an opportunity of working overseas with esteemed companies. Dr. Aggarwal also cited the terms accompanying the package which include free 8-week long training after which the students would join the company, students would be entitled to the accommodation provided by the company once they join the comany and lastly, the company would bear the cost of one-time travel in two years to India. All these things would cost the company around $8,000 or Rs. 5 lakh per annum. The training will commence in Germany in August this year.
