Maruti Suzuki has launched a special edition of the Alto. As part of an association with the makers of the upcoming movie “MS Dhoni – The Untold Story”, the Alto (Lxi) and Alto K10 (Lxi and Vxi) will be available with custom additions to the exterior and interior. The special edition models will be on sale from the first week of October.

The add-ons will cost you Rs 16,777 with the Alto 800 and Rs 12,777 for the Alto K10. That money buys you MS Dhoni signature decals and body graphics, seat covers with number #7 stitching, a single-DIN radio with MP3, AUX, USB connectivity and speakers along with reverse parking sensors and a bar graph display. You also get a steering wheel cover, ambient lighting, a spoiler, a door sill guard and some promotional merchandise. The special editions are offered with a choice of two interior colour combinations - black with silver and red with blue.

Trivia: Maruti Suzuki has cumulatively sold 30 lakh units of the Alto.

Additionally, Maruti Suzuki is running a promotional campaign on social media named #DrivenbyPassion, through which, Facebook and Twitter users can participate and win a chance to meet MS Dhoni and the cast of the movie.

To state the obvious, these editions feature no mechanical alterations. These special editions are simply Maruti’s way of giving the cricketer’s fans a chance to add the livery of their favourite sportsman to their car. Is the added cost worth it? Well that's for the fans to decide! Currently, the Alto 800 is priced between Rs 2.49 lakh and Rs 3.76 lakh, while the Alto K10 costs between Rs 3.29 lakh and Rs 4.15 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
